Vacation Bible School 2018
This year’s Vacation Bible School took place the week of 8/13. We had a wonderful group of 70 children, ages 3-10 (and a few younger ones, too!). This year’s theme was, ‘Shipwrecked’.
The children embarked on a weeklong journey where they sailed away to a special island and learned how Jesus rescues through life’s storms. There were Bible stories, creative crafts, exciting games, tasty snacks, and lots of wonderful singing.
In addition to the children learning about God’s amazing love, they also showed how much they cared about the less fortunate. Specifically, those that are supported by the AMAA. Almost $400 was raised from the daily offering!
We had over 40 volunteers assist with teaching, crafts, games, snacks, worship and misc. needs. Many thanks to:
Our fabulous leaders: Lisa Baboian and Pastor Joe Garabedian (Assembly leaders), Sevan Sarkisian (music), Lucina Ayvazian (activities and games), Charlotte Janigian and Rima Aghanians (snacks), Nanik Yacoubian (crafts), Angela Najarian (decorations), Elaine Hovsepian (missions), and Sabine Keljik (newsletter), Talin Barsoumian (Registrar)
Our amazing teachers: Talin Abidian, Lisa Baboian, Suzan Bedoyan, Michael Guyumdhzyan, Carol Hajian, Sabine Keljik, Nina Kiredjian and Nora Orchanian
Our fantastic volunteers: Alexa and Isabella Balian, Mark Boyajian, Alexis and Christian Dell’Anno, Alec Der-Sirakian, Monique Getzoyan, Alice Guyumdzhyan, Taleen Haleblian, Gabrielle Hanley; Judi Hanley; Alique Haserjian, Lillian Janigian, Sandra Lawrey, Talar Markarian, Anoush McCarthy, Sarine Nigoghosian, Adam Rogan, Victor Serrano, Nayiri Salibian, Danielle Shamlian, Karina Smith, Sheena Stamatakis, Sevana Stepanian
It was particularly exciting to see last year's 10 year old campers come back to serve as 11 year old volunteers - this is a testament to how much they enjoyed and connected with VBS last year!
We were so grateful that Elaine Hovsepian was able to jump in as project manager in late July and did a fabulous job throughout VBS week making sure everything ran smoothly. She and all of our volunteers were enthusiastic, flexible, capable and willing to help in any way they could!
For His glory,
Talin Barsoumian and Charlotte Janigian
